"The real journey is not only about where we go. It is about who we become along the way." - VJ

Hi, I'm VJ.

I'm so glad you're here.

While I don't really believe in labels to define myself — or anyone, really — I suppose the simplest way to describe my work is this: I create and hold spaces that help people come closer to themselves.

I was born in Calcutta, India, and moved to Canada when I was 13. In many ways, I have spent my life walking between worlds — East and West, business and spirituality, structure and surrender.

By education, I am an Electrical Engineer, and for over 30 years I have run a company focused on replacing single-use plastics with plant-based alternatives, while working closely with people and communities in India.

Alongside my business life, I have spent decades immersed in yoga, spiritual inquiry, music, ceremony, and yogic philosophy. Over the past 20 years, this path has deepened into a more intentional practice of learning, teaching, and holding space for transformation.

Whether through SHAKTI YATRA in India, plant medicine retreats in Guatemala, kirtans, Dharma talks, sound journeys, or workshops in Canada, my offerings are not simply events or trips. They are carefully held containers for self-discovery.

At the heart of my work is the belief that life itself is constantly teaching us. Our struggles, relationships, fears, longings, and moments of uncertainty are not obstacles to the path — they are the path.

One of my greatest joys is creating circles where people feel safe enough to be real, supported enough to go deeper, and inspired enough to remember the power they already carry within themselves.

This power — this inner strength, wisdom, and creative force — is what I understand as Shakti.

Through Journey with VJ, my intention is to offer experiences that are meaningful, intimate, and deeply curated. Not generic retreats. Not surface-level travel. But spaces where culture, philosophy, music, ceremony, community, and lived experience come together in service of transformation.

Thank you for being here.

Whether we meet in India, Guatemala, Canada, or somewhere along the path, I hope this space reminds you that the real journey is not only about where we go. It is about who we become along the way.

With love, VJ
